The StyleGlass.com site is still being expanded and further pages and images will be added shortly. My latest commision for a Charles Rennie Mackintosh style mirror is now finished. Its progress can be seen by clicking on the link. Trying to get a good photo without the camera being in the picture proved an interesting task.

How it all Started

I had always admired the beauty of stained glass windows and lamps. My interest in manufacturing stained glass developed after attending a course with my partner in 1998. A further course lead to our first commission a Charles Rennie Mackintosh style arched window. The window was manufactured for friends so I am still able to admire its beauty every time I visit.

Other commissions came by word of mouth and now I have now I have a backlog of work. I regard stained glass as a hobby and without the pressure of time I do not have to compromise a design or build because of commercial pressures. A well made window or lamp will last a lifetime so it is worthwhile investing a little extra time making it to a high standard.

All work is done using traditional methods. The majority of glass is cut by hand with a glass cutter. My only concession was the investment in a grinder to removing burrs and speed up the shaping difficult pieces by omitting the need to groze by using pliers.

I have used this site to show a small selection of our work and allow clients to see the progress of their commissions. In time it will be developed to include useful hints and tips on stained glass window and Tiffany lamp manufacture that will benefit anybody with an interest in the subject.
