My first stained glass project was a leaded panel. It was made during a long weekend course at Alston Hall and overseen by tutor Bill Davis. The course formed an excellent introduction to Stained Glass and the techniques required with students being taught to make leaded panel by using traditional methods. All the glass was cut by hand and oversized pieces had to be corrected removing the excess glass by carefully nibbling it away with by grozing with pliers. If this had not been done the panel would "grow" as it is leaded and this would have resulted in gaps between the glass and the lead came.The fish are made from hand blown flashed glass. The striations in the glass cause the fish to shimmer as the light behind the changes.
