A view of the window from inside the dinning room. The pictures do not do full justice to the colours and subtlety of the mouth blown Hartleywood antique glass in the roses.
The background glass was particularly difficult to cut. When breaking the glass along the score the surface was prone to chip in places along the cut line as the glass was broken. The surface chips were large enough not to covered by the lead came. On some windows where they are viewed from a distance this would not have mattered however as this window would be viewed from close up I did not want any small chips to detract from the finish. To overcome the problem the score was made away from the final edge and the glass then ground to shape. A time consuming process but the only way the desired finish could be achieved.
